11th June 2016
This weekend I was stopping at Riverside Caravan Park in South Molton, Devon and on Saturday afternoon I decided to go for a walk along the river bank. I had crossed the river bridge and was only about 30 yards or so upstream of the bridge when something caught my eye darting among the reeds and water plants. Fortunately I had my camera with me as I realised that what I had seen was a dragonfly.
However I was not quick enough to grab a good image of it in flight, so thought that maybe if I move further upstream I would find a spot where i could sit, camera in hand, and hopefully get a couple of good images of a flying dragonfly (something that has eluded me over the years).
Sadly on this trip that image eluded me yet again, but I did get these static images over a period of about 45 minutes.
The above image was taken just after this beautiful creature had landed on a tree stump that was protruding from the bank.
Whilst this one was taken as it had settled down to bask in the glorious sunshine of a June Saturday afternoon
Over the next day or so I will post more images from this walk alongside the River Mole.
